"I'm Going to Preschool!!!!"

Hudson,

This video has changed my life in every single way.
There is nothing better than your joy/enthusiasm/excitement all about going to preschool.
The greatest part, you have absolutely no idea what preschool is.

I often read Anna Quindlen essays and I keep coming back to this one. This section especially:

But the biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make while doing this. I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of the three of them sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages 6, 4 and 1. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less.

I have paused in this moment because this is another milestone for our family.
As of September, all three of you will be in school.
Diaper bags are replaced by backpacks.
Lazy slow mornings with park trips and errands will be replaced
by getting dressed and out the door to circle time, crafts and learning your letters and friends.

We can't wait to see what the next chapter will bring,
and hope we can have as much enthusiasm as you have Hudson as we approach the unknown.

Ten

Dear Kids,

This one is for daddy. But take note- I hope you each find friendship and partnership like we have found in each other.

Dear Justin,

We have been married for ten amazing years. There have been remarkable days, and hard days. The ordinary days are my favorites. Most of all, I am so lucky that we are together. You make me laugh, you are by my side, you are an incredible dad.

Thanks for a great ten years. Three babies, five homes, celebrating milestones, grieving loss, amazing friendships, trips to the ER, parent/teacher conferences, great travel adventures, and the best Friday nights on the couch with dateline and takeout.

I love you. I love our life. While I thought I couldn't love you more on this day:
I do. A few more wrinkles, a lot more grey hair, but I wouldn't trade a minute of it.

Anna Davis.... this was your week!

Anna Davis,

You knocked it out of the park this week.
Seriously.
I cried. Dad cried.
We are so proud of you.

Here is the thing- you have struggled with math.  Really struggled.
I have gotten frustrated.
( how can 7 spoons look equal to 2 spoons?)
This week, you prevailed!!!
I sent your amazing teacher an email to say "virtual high five."
She works hard. Thinks outside the box. Thinks about how you think.

We are lucky she is your teacher, and you are her student.
We are proud of your hard work and dedication.
If next week is a 0/20, that is ok too. We will get there.
The very next day... you got your brace remodeled.
We are on a long journey to ditch that brace, and this was a step.
WOOT WOOT!
Miguel, the super brace maker was ready to take the step of shaving it down.
Deep breath!
Let's hope that foot of yours holds.

Next up, this stunner will be your sleeping brace.  You think the blue is too boring.
 Maybe rainbow this time.
All the excitement was too much.
You went to bed that night with all the lights on and chaos around you.
You capped off the week with the news that you are on track to graduate from OT!
Can you believe it.
ONE YEAR of very hard work.
Anna Davis. You are one of the strongest people I know.
I am so proud of you
EVERY.SINGLE.DAY!

Thank you for being such an example to me.
